Why Live In Belcarra

10 Reasons to Live – Between Forest & Sea – in the Village of Belcarra, B.C.,Canada

1. Peace & Quiet  – Belcarra is situated in the middle of suburbia and yet it is the most peaceful place to live in the entire lower mainland. We are a small village of 700 active residents, 35 minutes to the downtown core of one of the most beautiful, internationally renowned cities – Vancouver, BC. location of the 2010 Winter Olympics.

2. The Forest – Approximately 1,000 Hectares  of natural forest creates the Belcarra Regional Park (in fact almost twice the size of Stanley Park).  This forest surrounds the Village of Belcarra making it a Bird watchers paradise with 79 variety of birds recorded including many water fowl like ducks, geese, egrets, cormorants and eagles waiting to catch seasonal jumping salmon.  Deer are often seen walking down the streets or eating the neighbourhood flowers.  There are raccoons, coyotes, otters, seals and bears along with the occasional cougar sighting.

3. Belcarra Regional Park - There are many trails to explore and walk your dogs.  Unlike Stanley Park and many other parks around the area, one can hike for hours without running into a crowd. Follow the well laid out trails guide to experience the peace & paradise we enjoy every day. At the end of the Belcarra Park road is ample parking for gatherings with family or friends.  Enjoy an outdoor BBQ on the community supplied grills.  Forgot your picnic goodies, no problem, the Concession Hut is open from May 21 – Sept 21.  Check out a canoes or kayak at the Rental Shack or let your kids have fun on state of art outdoor play equipment or play a game of catch, Frisbee or sunbath on the large grassy area that stretches down to the ocean.
4. The Ocean – The Pacific Ocean meanders through various waterways to get to us, Canada’s most southern fiord – Indian Arm.  Almost every household in the Village of Belcarra has either water view, water access or water frontage with private and community docks. This area also offers safe, quiet deep morage in Bedwell Bay just west of the Vancouver Water Ski Club. Sail, motor boat, kayak, scuba dive, snorkel or swim in our clean, calm waters. In fact our beaches have never been closed due to high bacteria count.

 5. Indian Arm – travel up this fiord minutes by boat from the Village of Belcarra and you will feel like you are in Alaska.  Our beautiful blue green ocean is surrounded by snow capped mountains that are breathtaking.  Fish for Salmon, Crab and even prawns in the deep clean water.  Stop at the towering granite falls or camp at the ___ Provincial camp site.

6. Sasamat Lake – has pristine water and sandy beaches on the outskirts of the Village and Belcarra Park.  If you prefer lake activities, join the 100′s of swimmers, sunbathers and fishermen in beautiful White Pine Beach.

7. Inspiration – The beauty of Belcarra is very inspirational for the Artist of all types.  Which is why Belcarra has so many Artists and Artisans in all mediums.  One weekend a year the Village Hall is transformed into a community Art Gallery where local artists exhibit and sell their latest creations this is a very fun and social event.

 8. Community – Belcarra was incorporated as a Village in 1979.  Before this time it was a hidden diamond few people knew about.  Today Belcarra is a group of 700 active residents with one of the highest per capital income of any town or city in Canada.  Homes are located on 1/4 to 1 acrea sized properties.  Compared to other waterfront communities in the Vancouver area, Belcarra is still a bargain with its large land parcels, ocean view and access, lower taxes & community spirit.  The secret is out as Belcarra is now on the map with property values soaring!

9. Convenience – We are 10 minutes drive to major shopping in Port Moody and Coquitlam. We are 35 minutes to Downtown Vancouver and have a community shuttle bus that transports those who can be ‘green’ to the city.  As we don’t have schools or stores in the Village our children are bused free of charge to their schools.

10. Safety – Belcarra’s crime rate is by far the lowest in the Lower Mainland.  It is extremely safe for you and your children.  Even common petty theft or home break-ins are  very rare.  We have a Block Watch System in place which keeps all residents up to date if any problems are reported in  the neighbourhood.  Belcarra also has its own volunteer Fire Department.  They are well trained and have all the lastest equipment.  Anmore – our neighbour Village, also has a fire hall which works intune with Belcarra’s.
